Is the LED lighting bright enough to use as a light source, and can I turn it off?
Bright enough to light a dark room on its own. Most people run it instead of a lamp at night. It comes with a remote so you can change the color, dim it down, or turn it off completely. With the lights off it's just a clean black coffee table.
Can I actually use it as a coffee table, or is it display only?
Can I actually use it as a coffee table, or is it display only?
It's a real coffee table. The top is tempered glass and the frame is solid, so drinks, remotes, feet up, all fine. The diorama is sealed underneath, so nothing you put on top touches it.
Does it arrive assembled, and how is the glass protected in transit?

It ships flat packed. Attach the four legs, set the glass top into the frame, plug it in. About twenty minutes with a screwdriver, and the hardware and instructions are in the box. The glass ships in its own foam lined section separate from the frame, and it's tempered, so it handles shipping well.
